Dual Sense combines Oscar’s Afrofuturist portraiture with his love of anime. He pulls inspiration from WEB DuBois’ concepts of Double Consciousness.  Black people have been seen through the perspective of another race, while also feeling torn between the duality of the African and the American. 

A majority of the pieces are panels with built-in magnetic backings and detachable magnetic pieces.  The detachable pieces are painted as photo realistic faces and reveal the anime characters underneath. Other pieces have rips in the canvas to reveal a direct view of the subject's hidden layer. These works bring a tangible and kinetic quality to Oscar's work.
